Marcello Savini (Ortezzano, July 1, 1928 – Milan, June 5, 1995) was a painter, sculptor, and designer. His journey through the world of art and fashion is a story of transformation, exploration, and self-discovery.

After completing his studies in Milan, he lived in major European capitals and New York, actively participating in the artistic life of each country he resided in, both with solo and group exhibitions.

A versatile, restless, and nomadic artist, Savini's works, rooted in modern figurative art, reflect his refined aesthetic sensibility and human sensitivity with equal intensity.

His strong creative drive first found expression in Milan in the 1950s, where he designed haute couture collections as a stylist while developing an increasing passion for painting and graphic arts, leading to his first exhibitions in Milan.

Drawing became the continuum between the dazzling world of fashion and his inner quest for the sense of beauty, which led him to art.

He traveled extensively throughout Europe, but it was the years spent in Athens (1963-1967) that marked his full immersion in art. During that period, he intensely dedicated himself to painting, defining his personal interpretation of figurative and developing a unique style where the warm earthy tones, that defines his visual language colors, are applied in thin layers and the figures emerge with a mysterious grace

Throughout the seventies, he continued his exploration by dedicating himself to pencil drawing, where with just a few slender lines, he captured the essence of the subjects portrayed. Those years also marked a new phase in sculpture, as he sought to express his complex inner world through a direct and physical relationship with the material. His bronzes, crafted with harmonious intensity, embodied the physical tension arising from the questions they posed: The Boxer, Solidarity, The Wrestlers, Pain, and Paolo and Francesca.

Starting from the mid-1980s, Savini entered the final phase of his study on the works of the old masters of drawing, often creating reinterpretations with modern sensitivity.

Throughout his career, numerous exhibitions, journalistic features, critical reviews, and prestigious awards marked his artistic journey. In 1998, the town of Ortezzano dedicated a square to him.

"Age divides us, but our  concept  of art unites us, which is the love for truth and beauty."

"At first glance, upon seeing some of Savini's drawings, I was literally breathless, almost fearful that a single breath of mine might blow them away from the page..."

Giorgio Caproni - Italian poet
